Rick Wimberly knows success. He has served in leadership roles pioneering two of the most accepted public safety and government products of the last fifteen years. He has helped turn around several companies, and has been active in helping government create programs producing real success. He knows problem-solving. Wimberly is a leader in an international organization that promotes creative problem solving. Wimberly held various sales and management positions at Dialogic Communications Corporation (DCC), a leader in critical notification products and services. As such, he’s been deeply involved in increasing revenues in the government sector from less than $1,000,000 annually to many times in excess. Customers include top agencies in federal, state, and local levels - particularly those involved in homeland security, public safety, and emergency management. Solutions Wimberly introduced to DHS, FEMA and FBI have become agency standards. Local customers include cities, large and small, (e.g. Los Angeles, Boston, Seattle) and a number of regional consortiums. He was also involved in sales management of REVERSE 911®, like Dialogic, owned by PlantCML.
Wimberly is currently the leader of the technology committee for the State of California work group on Alerts and Warnings. His past efforts include Presidential cabinet-level briefings and development of relationships nationwide with key public safety officials and other members of the community. He’s held Business Development roles, including developing and supporting a channel of technology partners and re-sellers. He built and managed two companies’ sales and sales support teams devoted to government sales, and was the lead in a reorganization to create separate business units for government and commercial. Wimberly also developed a nationwide grant program, and has conducted seminars throughout the country. Previously, Wimberly was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Zarc International, the top provider of non-lethal weaponry/pepper spray to professional government customers. High-profile federal customers included the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, and Department of Defense. The product was also used extensively by local public safety and was involved in peacekeeping initiatives (Somalia, Guantanamo Bay, Rwanda). Wimberly’s efforts included development of an international sales channel and interaction at high levels of government in a number of nations.
In addition to leadership in government/public safety sales and marketing, Wimberly is active in creative problem-solving programs. He holds leadership positions with Destination Imagination (DI), which has enhanced problem-solving and teamwork skills of millions of students worldwide. He’s Chairman of the Board of the organization that presents the DI program in Tennessee, and serves several leadership roles in the international organization.
Wimberly has been a management consultant focused on sales, marketing, and cash flow management for troubled companies in various industries. He was part of the management team that turned around a struggling communications company, and then took it public. As Vice President of Corporate Development, he was responsible for acquisition programs and increased owned radio stations market share and revenues substantially. In the early stages of his career, he was a successful television and radio news reporter and personality.
